v1 Release in August 2024
Q1 2022
In 2021, Körber Supply Chain Software made the decision to start a process through which its vast Supply Chain Software solutions would be updated and upgraded for the modern enterprise and user. That meant the lens through which we looked at User Experience in the Supply Chain environment had to be updated as well.
Design a fully custom, multiplatform design system which would fit Körber Supply Chain Software's unique needs as a market leader. This meant going from wearable to desktop, light to dark, in store to cold storage. A system that could work anywhere, for anyone.
As a market leader in Warehouse Management System Software, Körber's offering was starting to display signs of its age in terms of UX slowness and visual appeal, starting to become a point ofconcern for new and old clients.
By completely re-developing the user experience for a suite of products such as Körber's, a successful release can potentially increase revenue by generating positive buzz and potential time and money savings for clients on their end user tasks times.
We conducted stakeholder interviews and workshops to understand business goals and user needs. We carried out extensive user and product research, to gather insights on user and product behaviour. We also performed competitive analysis to benchmark industry standards both in UX and Supply Chain.
The research was synthesised into a report where user feedback showed that there was a need for a refresh of the visual language of the application but also it's application to current devices and work standards. A decision was made to start with developing a new Multiplatform Design System.
We started by looking not at what our direct competitors were doing, but where UX as a discipline was heading. Our goal was to make Körber a leader in UX, so we started by auditing what the best companies in UX were doing to set them apart.
The first step was filtering all the necessary components and processes, and to do that we used the Atomic Design methodology to list all the necessary component based on the Audit process.
Körber Supply Chain Software's portfolio covers the end-to-end supply chain market so we required:
High levels of accessibility for challenging work conditions;
High flexibility, customisation and finesse for real-time data analysis and action;
Multiplatform capabilities;
Foundational work for forecasted trends.
